This privacy policy explains what information Keyboard Gear (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects when you visit https://keyboardgear.com, and how that information is used. It is written in plain language to describe current site practices. It is not legal advice and does not create warranties beyond what applicable law already requires.
If you have questions about this policy, email keyboardgear@gmail.com or use the contact form.
Who we are
Keyboard Gear is an independent keyboard information and buying-guide website operated by Javed Aslam, publishing under the editor name Jacob Jay. The site has been online since 2021.
Information we collect
Server logs and hosting
Like most websites, our hosting environment automatically records basic technical data when your browser requests a page. That typically includes your IP address, browser type, referring URL, requested pages, date and time, and similar server-log details. These logs are used for security, abuse prevention, debugging and understanding aggregate traffic. Retention depends on the host’s defaults and our operational needs.
Google Analytics (MonsterInsights)
We use Google Analytics, configured through the MonsterInsights WordPress plugin, to understand how visitors use the site (for example, which pages are popular and roughly where traffic comes from). Google Analytics may set cookies and collect identifiers, device and browser information, and usage data. Google processes this data under its own terms and privacy policy. You can learn more about Google’s practices at Google’s privacy documentation, and you may be able to limit Analytics collection with browser settings or Google’s opt-out tools where available.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files stored on your device. This site may use:
- Essential / functional cookies needed for WordPress, security plugins, caching or form features to work
- Analytics cookies related to Google Analytics / MonsterInsights
- Affiliate / advertising cookies from Amazon and similar partners when you interact with affiliate links (see below)
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect site features.
Amazon Associates and affiliate links
Keyboard Gear participates in the Amazon Associates Program. Product links on the site may be affiliate links. If you click an Amazon link, Amazon may set cookies or use similar technologies to track that your visit came from this site and to attribute a commission if you make a purchase. Amazon is responsible for the data it collects on its own sites and apps. See Amazon’s privacy notice and our affiliate disclosure for more detail. We do not control Amazon’s cookies or how long Amazon stores referral data.
Contact form
If you send a message through the contact form on https://keyboardgear.com/contact/ (or email us directly), we receive the information you submit—typically your name, email address and message content. That information is used only to respond to you and to keep a record of the conversation as needed. We do not sell contact-form submissions.
Comments
Comments are enabled on posts. If you leave a comment, we collect the data shown in the comment form (such as name, email and website URL, plus the comment itself), along with your IP address and browser user agent used for spam filtering. An anonymized string created from your email (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it. Published comments and the name/URL you provide can appear publicly on the site. You may request removal of a comment by contacting us.
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, secure and improve the website
- Measure traffic and content performance
- Respond to messages and moderate comments
- Support the site through affiliate commissions where applicable
- Comply with legal obligations when required
Sharing of information
We do not sell your personal information. We share data with service providers only as needed to run the site, including:
- Our web host (server logs and site files)
- Google (Analytics)
- Amazon (when you follow affiliate links)
- Email delivery when you contact us
- Spam and security tools that process comment or form submissions
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the site, our users or others from harm or abuse.
Third-party links
Articles may link to Amazon, manufacturer sites and other third-party pages. Those sites have their own privacy policies. This policy applies only to https://keyboardgear.com.
Children
The site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it when we can identify it.
Your choices
You can refuse cookies in your browser, use private browsing, or contact us to ask about access or deletion of information you sent via the contact form or comments. Analytics and affiliate partners offer their own opt-out or preference tools; availability varies by region and browser.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page when site practices change (for example, adding or removing analytics tools). The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after an update means you should review the new text.
